President Trump’s Truth Social post depicting himself as Jesus Christ drew well deserved criticism from Catholics, fellow Christians, and other people of faith nationwide.

It also provoked a slew of claims that President Trump’s blasphemy disqualifies him from deserving the Catholic or Christian vote, or that it will crush him at midterms when outraged Catholics vote for the Democrats.

If people of faith do decide that Trump’s blasphemy is more dangerous than the radical Left, then they deserve everything that they get. Just this week, the Trump administration’s Department of Justice published a report detailing the horrifying extent to which the Biden administration’s DOJ targeted people of faith, especially Catholics.

While President Trump’s blasphemy was outrageous, the DOJ’s new report serves as a powerful reminder of Americans’ alternative: radical Democrats who not only hold animus towards people of faith, but who have a history of brazenly weaponising the government against those they disagree with politically.

Throughout the Biden administration, it was made perfectly clear that Catholics had no place in Biden’s America. Some evidence of this anti-Catholic hostility was uncovered by the Trump DOJ’s new report, which unearthed emails from Biden’s DOJ complaining about ‘a very Catholic magistrate’ who was ‘very particular’ about ‘First Amendment rights’.

This email encapsulates what Catholics endured under the Biden administration. Catholics and people of faith, especially pro-life advocates, were among the most prolific opponents of the Biden administration’s countless radical agendas pertaining to abortion, free speech, transgenderism and more.

The Biden administration’s response was to weaponise the law to silence political opposition. The Freedom to Access Clinic Entrances Act (FACE) provided Biden’s DOJ the opportunity to do so.

The FACE Act criminalises using force or physical obstruction to ‘injure, intimidate or interfere’ with individuals at abortion clinics, pregnancy resource centres and churches. Biden’s DOJ took advantage of this law to viciously hunt down, target, and destroy nonviolent pro-life advocates and people of faith – while ignoring attacks carried out by those who shared Biden’s political beliefs.

Indeed, Biden’s DOJ ignored nearly 100 attacks – involving firebombings, vandalism and red spray-painted threats reading ‘if abortions aren’t safe then neither are you’ – on pregnancy resource centres nationwide. The agency also ignored almost 400 violent, threatening attacks on Catholic churches across America. Each of these incidents were clear FACE Act violations, if not domestic terror attacks.

Biden’s DOJ could not have cared less – it was far too busy targeting people of faith and pro-life advocates that stood in its way.

In fact, according to the Trump DOJ’s new report, Biden’s DOJ partnered with the National Abortion Federation and a Civil Rights Task Force to target political opponents of the Biden administration, including those who had not yet committed any crimes.

Individuals like Catholic father and pro-life advocate Mark Houck – who courts later cleared of any wrongdoing – were relentlessly persecuted and harassed by Biden’s DOJ. Despite knowing that Houck had not violated the FACE Act, Biden’s DOJ sent a SWAT team to Houck’s house in the early hours of the morning and arrested him at gunpoint in front of his wife and children.

Houck was dragged out in handcuffs like a violent murderer while his children screamed in the background – offering a sobering glimpse into the future of Catholics in Biden’s America.

This was exactly the Biden DOJ’s goal: to use Houck as an example of what would happen to those who opposed the administration’s agendas.

Those who did not learn from this ‘lesson’ quickly learned that they would receive no mercy from Biden’s DOJ. Pro-life advocates and people of faith who were convicted under the FACE Act – most of whom were guilty of praying and singing in protest inside abortion clinics – faced up to 11 years in prison or up to $250,000 in fines. Biden’s DOJ did not even have mercy on a death camp survivor, who would have died in prison if President Trump had not pardoned her.

Meanwhile, pregnancy resource centres and churches across America burned without reprieve.

One of the most striking examples of the Biden administration’s hostility, however, was the discovery that Biden’s FBI had circulated memos claiming that Catholics posed an ‘extremist threat’ to field offices across the country and had agents spying on Catholics at their religious services.

Each of these incidents, and others, drove home the claim that the Biden administration – and effectively the entire Democratic Party – hold animus towards Catholics and people of faith. They showed how little Democrats care about constitutional freedoms, justice or the rule of law when they conflict with the Left’s agendas.

They also offer a contrast to President Trump’s depiction of himself as Jesus Christ – an action many people can agree was disrespectful and wrong.

Yet those who might be tempted by this blasphemy to vote against Republicans in the midterms – or forgo voting altogether – may face a rude awakening should the Democrats regain power.
