The Cardinal Newman Society will host its annual virtual college fair, inviting high school students and their parents to learn more about the schools on the organisation’s Newman Guide, on October 8.

The Newman Guide Virtual College Fair will connect prospective students and their parents with a “virtual college booth” and allow for conversations with representatives from colleges. There will also be information sessions on academics, student life, admissions, scholarships and financial aid, the college application process and timeline, as well as the role of Catholic education.

“Catholic families are asking important questions about the cost, culture and value of higher education,” said the Cardinal Newman Society in an August 31 press release announcing the Newman Guide Virtual College Fair. Parents, said the release, are concerned about the investment required for school, career preparation, the community their children will find themselves in and the faith environments on campus.

“Catholics nationwide will discover what sets Newman Guide colleges apart, how a faithful Catholic college education may be more attainable than you think, and consider not only where a student can earn a degree, but where they can grow in faith, prepare for a career and discern God’s calling in their life,” said the Cardinal Newman Society.

The virtual college fair, said the release, “will help Catholic parents and high school students explore those questions while connecting directly with colleges recommended in The Newman Guide”.

A free registration is required to attend.

The Newman Guide is a collection of 20 colleges and universities that are recognised for “their commitment to a faithful Catholic education”. The recognised schools are located mostly in the United States, but are also found in Australia, Canada, Austria, Italy and online.

Four schools have been granted provisional recognition in the guide.
