In an exchange with Jesuits in Madagascar last month, whose transcript was recently released, the Holy Father remarked: “Have you never seen young priests all stiff in black cassocks and hats in the shape of the planet Saturn on their heads? Behind all the rigid clericalism there are serious problems.” Some priests disagreed with the Pope’s comments, posting pictures of themselves wearing the hat in question.
