Pope Francis’s final book will be released in English this autumn, about two years after it was originally published in Italian.

Hope, Unfailing will be published on November 10, 2026, by Measure Publishing LLC. It was published in Italian as La Speranza non delude mai in time for the 2025 Jubilee.

“Pope Francis held that hope is before us in its many manifestations, discoverable, if we seek to be strengthened by it: he said hope is present in the face of a woman carrying a new life in her womb, in the face of a poor person still believing in the future, of a refugee searching for a better tomorrow, or in the face of a soldier or of a civilian who prays for the soldier’s safe return home, or in a pensioner and a child, walking hand in hand, free and safe,” said publisher Stephen Acunto in a press release announcing the book.

Pope Francis, said Acunto, “shepherded all men towards a pilgrimage of hope, marking what he believed would be a rebirth of humanity”.

In the book, “Pope Francis leads us through his spiritual thought processes, engaging us in his special energy and divinely inspired vision that will move us along life’s paths in hope, where despair might otherwise reign,” he said.

The English edition of the book includes an additional eight-page insert with photos of Pope Francis and quotations about “his brightly eloquent message of optimism”, said the release.

“For Pope Francis hope is the message for our age and may be a source for serious reflection on the family, on education, on our social, political and economic outlook, on geopolitics and migration, on our human ecology, our climate, our use of technologies including AI, and, ultimately, upon peace, ours personally joined to that of the world,” said Acunto.

Pope Francis’s papacy ended with his death on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88. During his papacy, he published four encyclicals and several books, including the first-ever papal autobiography.
