Church leaders across Latin America have hailed Pope Leo XIV’s visit as a moment of renewal and encouragement for a continent that remains home to almost half of the world’s Catholics.
From the secularised society of Uruguay to the youth-focused Church in Argentina and the deeply Catholic communities of Peru, Church leaders say the Pope’s eleven-day tour, from 6th to 17th November will provide fresh missionary momentum.
While each nation presents vastly different pictures of Catholic life, bishops speaking during Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need’s (ACN) online conference agreed on one thing – Pope Leo’s visit comes at a pivotal moment.
