The Catholic Medical Association (CMA) has issued a position statement on the the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill passing through the UK parliament that seeks to legalise assisted suicide. On Friday, 16 May, all MPs will have the chance to vote on changes to the Bill that will be heard in the House of Commons, six months after MPs first voted in favour of the move to legalise assisted suicide across the country.
Statement
The Catholic Medical Association (CMA) is committed to upholding the moral teachings of the Catholic Church as applied to the field of healthcare. It is therefore fundamentally opposed to the legislation proposed in MP Kim Leadbeater’s Assisted Dying Bill.
