On a recent Sunday in July Archbishop Vincent Nichols, above, flanked by Bishop Malcolm McMahon of Nottingham and Bishop John Rawsthorne of Hallam, led pilgrims at Padley Manor House to celebrate the lives and deaths of Nicholas Garlick and Robert Ludlam, the Padley Martyrs, convicted of treason on July 23 1588.
