Six Catholic doctors and 26 teachers were among those who attended a teacher-training programme in the Billings Ovulation Method (BOM) for doctors and teachers at Westminster Pastoral Centre from June 24 to 27.

The Billings method is a technique developed by John Billings, an Australian physician, in which women monitor their fertility. It is used for natural family planning.

Marie Marshell and Marian Corkill, two senior Australian educators, had stopped off in Paris to train French doctors and teachers before coming to England. The BOM can provide a means of monitoring reproductive health and is also helpful to those wanting to achieve pregnancy.

Dr Mark Whitty of Dublin said: “The correct use of the BOM concurs fully with the natural moral law.”

The BOM Trust is grateful to the Westminster Diocese Department of Pastoral Affairs, which subsidised the course. For further details contact the conference organiser, at the BOM Trust, 58B Vauxhall Grove, London SW8 1TB. Telephone: 0207 793 0026.
