King Charles III has met witnesses of Christian persecution at an Advent event in London.

The King listened as Fr Alfred Ebalu, a survivor of abduction, death threats and violence in Nigeria, highlighted growing persecution of Christians and others in Africa’s most populous country.

Fr Ebalu’s testimony was followed by an overview of heightened persecution in other parts of Africa, where it is requested that details go unreported for fear of endangering the faithful there.

The event was attended by a delegation from Aid to the Church in Need led by national director Dr Caroline Hull, accompanied by Father Dominic Robinson, the charity’s chaplain, and officer John Pontifex.
