A US pop star’s October 2023 music video containing images of a New York church being desecrated has led to the suspension of the priest who authorised its filming, as well as to Federal investigators subpoenaing the Brooklyn church at the centre of the controversy as they investigate the possibility of wider corruption.
The startling developments follow an inquiry launched by the diocese after the controversy over the music video for Sabrina Carpenter’s song Feather. The inquiry revealed that the priest sent parish funds to an aide of Eric Adams, the current beleaguered mayor of New York.
