A prominent Nigerian politician has criticised Kemi Badenoch and the UK for being a country where "Christians are derided" and "churches are empty", stating that while Nigeria might be poor, “at least we hold fast to our Christian and Muslim values, we know God, and we will not burn in hell for eternity for trying to replace Him”.

The criticism comes after UK Conservative party leader Badenoch, in her first major speech of the year, reflected on her childhood in Nigeria, stating that she had “lived with the consequences of terrible governments that destroy lives, and I never, ever want it to happen here”.
