One tradition is to clean the house in preparation for the great feast. On a more spiritual level, many parishes will have extra Confession times, making this an ideal moment to make use of the sacrament.

At 3.30 pm on Good Friday, Jeremy Irons (left) will read from the Psalms. The reading will clash with Good Friday liturgies, but will be available afterwards on the BBC website.
