Sunday is Pentecost. Various customs commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and Our Lady. In France, trumpets are sometimes blown during Mass, a reminder of the “driving wind” heard as the Spirit descended.

Catholics in New York State are holding a meet-up tomorrow. As part of a series of “Coffee and the Catechism” sessions, they’ll be gathering at 3pm at Kurzhal’s coffee shop in Peekskill to discuss the Holy Spirit and Pentecost.
