Young charity workers at Loreto preparatory school in Altrincham, Cheshire, were told about the difficulties of life without sight when Henshaws fundraiser John Farrington collected a £500 donation.

Founded in 1837 in Trafford Park, Henshaws is the England’s oldest charity providing expert care, advice and training to anyone affected by sight loss, raising over £10 million each year to support their centres in Greater Manchester and across the north.

One of their key events is a carol concert in Manchester Cathedral, where choristers from Loreto preparatory school will sing alongside top young musicians from Chetham’s School of Music.
