Poland's Prime Minister Beata Szydlo has attended the first Mass celebrated by her older, who was ordained a priest at the weekend. Fr Tymoteusz Szydlo, 25, celebrated Mass on Sunday at the church in Przecieszyn where he was baptised as a child. It is traditional in Poland for a newly-ordained priest to celebrate his first Mass in the town where he grew up. On the feast of Pentecost, he will celebrate Mass in the Extraordinary Form at the Church of the Holy Cross in Krakow, which is served by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP).

"Human words are unable to express the gratitude I owe You, my God," Fr Szydlo said. "Therefore, I humbly ask You to keep me in Your holy service," The prime minister said she and her husband, Edward Szydlo, were "very happy and proud." Beata Szydlo heads a government of the conservative Law and Justice party, which adheres to traditional Catholic church teachings on marriage, same-sex relationships and abortion.
