In 2017 Jim Forest published At Play in the Lions’ Den, a biography of the Jesuit priest Daniel Berrigan. It received much acclaim and was the third in a trilogy of biographies by Forest of three outstanding American Catholics: Thomas Merton, Dorothy Day and Daniel Berrigan.
I recently interviewed Jim Forest via Skype at his home in the Dutch city of Alkmaar. I began by asking him whether he identified a common strand in the lives of Merton, Day and Berrigan.
