Pope Francis’s trip to Thailand and Japan begins on Tuesday November 19, when he flies from Rome to Bangkok. The visit will begin with a welcoming ceremony in the courtyard of Government House. The Pope will meet Thailand’s religious and political leaders, visit a hospital, and celebrate Mass at the national stadium, before leaving for Japan on Saturday 23.

On Saturday November 17, Ukrainian Catholics in Canada will mark the anniversary of the Holodomor, Stalin’s forced starvation of Ukrainians. There will be a memorial service at 1pm, at the Holodomor Memorial at Winnipeg City Hall (right).

At the Museum of London at 6pm on Wednesday November 20, the historian Alec Ryrie will give a lecture on the subject of anti-Catholic prejudice, addressing “How the English learned to hate Catholics”.
