The winners of a Catholic Herald prize draw for tickets to attend Catholic vespers at Hampton Court Palace have been announced. Mrs Mavis Smith of Canterbury, Kent and Mrs Lorna Gordon of Newark, Notts have each won a pair of tickets to attend the first Catholic service to be celebrated at Hampton Court Palace's Chapel Royal in more than 450 years. When the historic event was first announced in January, the Catholic Herald entered all annual print or e-replica subscribers into the draw and Mrs Smith and Mrs Gordon are the lucky winners. Cardinal Vincent Nichols will celebrate Vespers in King Henry VIII’s chapel tomorrow. The Vespers, at Hampton Court Palace’s Chapel Royal, will be celebrated in the Latin Rite and the Anglican Bishop of London will deliver a sermon. The service will be dedicated to St John the Baptist, as the Chapel Royal was built by Cardinal Wolsey on the site of a chapel of the Knights of St John Hospitaller, dedicated to that saint. The music will be performed by Harry Christophers and his ensembles The Sixteen and Genesis Sixteen.
