The University of Edinburgh has announced that it will no longer offer Bachelor and Master of Divinity programmes after the Church of Scotland reduced its ministerial training to focus on the University of Glasgow. The move marks a historic change, as the University of Edinburgh was founded in 1583 in large part as a theological college to train ministers in Scotland.
The University of Edinburgh said that its theology and religion courses would “continue to speak from a city shaped by Reformation and Enlightenment”.
