A French freemason grand master has stated that his organisation intends to work towards influencing the 2027 presidential election to remove non-state schools, many of which are Catholic. Guillaume Trichard, grand master of the Grand Orient de France (GODF), said the schools had “no place in the Republic”.
In an interview with the French publication Le Figaro on August 28, the grand master credited his lodge’s influence with the recent introduction of assisted suicide in France, which was promulgated by President Emmanuel Macron on August 19. The law had been passed by the National Assembly three times but was repeatedly rejected by the Senate, only passing after Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu invoked Article 45 to bypass the Senate.
