The Chicago White Sox received a letter from their longtime fan Pope Leo XIV, the team announced ahead of their playoff game against the Houston Astros.
“Earlier today, a letter from Pope Leo XIV arrived at Rate Field. Go White Sox!” the team posted on X on September 29.
The letter was dated September 9 and addressed to Jerry Reinsdorf, the team’s chairman.

“I was pleased to receive the kind letter you sent following the game that took place at Rate Field on August 11, 2026. I am most grateful for this thoughtful gesture,” wrote Pope Leo XIV.
