Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, has encouraged the faithful to take part in a Novena to the Holy Spirit to pray for faith and the defeat of “false doctrine”. The bishop said the idea was prompted by a year of “tremendous turmoil … in the world and in the Church”. The nine days of prayer begin today and end on the eve of the Amazon synod.
