It is good to know that even today a pronouncement by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York can still make the front pages. Moreover, it is good to know that the two archbishops are able to communicate something that needs to be said, and which is in clear continuity with the content of the Gospel and Christian tradition. Their Graces have produced, with others, a collection of essays entitled On Rock or Sand? The biblical allusion will not be lost on those who are familiar with Scripture.
