The Pope was presented with a silver miniature ambucycle by Eli Beer, founder and president of United Hatzalah, Israel's national volunteer-based emergency medical services organisation, to commemorate an actual ambucycle that was dedicated in honour of his visit to the Holy Land. An ambucycle is a motorbike equipped to transport medical supplies and equipment. The meeting took place on Monday during an event at the Heichal Shlomo Jewish Heritage Centre and Jewish Art Museum in Jerusalem, hosted by the Sephardi and Ashkenazi Chief Rabbis of Israel. Mr Beer discussed the work of United Hatzalah which saves the lives of thousands of Jews, Muslims and Christians each year, adding that a chapter of the organisation recently opened in the Pontiff's native Argentina. Pope Francis blessed the work of United Hatzalah, calling it “a great life-saving model that should be replicated worldwide”. The ambucycle dedicated to the Pope will immediately be deployed on the streets of Jerusalem.
