Six brothers from Province 10 of the Knights of St Columba walked from Upminster in Essex to Canterbury Cathedral in Kent on a prayer pilgrimage in October. The walk took five days and included stops at the shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at Aylesford Priory and the shrine of St Jude at Faversham. Petitions were delivered to each of these shrines and over £7,000 has been raised for various charities including the St Francis Hospice, the Passage, Childcare (Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society) and the Knights’ national action project, which supports “Save the Saveable”, an action being undertaken by Aid to the Church in Need where people are rescued from northern Sudan and taken to safety in South Sudan.
