Pope Francis was presented with an unusual gift this week when pupils from a Jesuit school in Rome gave him a drone bearing the Vatican colours and the papal emblem. Pope Francis was presented with the gift during a meeting with the Community of Christian Life in Italy and the Missionary League for Italian Students. The drone is supposed to represent “the values of technology in the service of man”, according to a statement from the school released to the Italian news agency ANSA. It reads: “Drones have proved useful to check the condition of structures [in the earthquake zone in Nepal] and study paths from bringing relief to people who need this in remote villages.”
