Congratulations on your first child. You are right to be concerned about their spiritual life and right to consider formulating a strategy at the earliest possible stage. Never underestimate how insidious the forces of secularism can be even among families of faith. Cultural Catholicism has disappeared in the western world. We must assume that the prevailing environment will militate against the transmission of faith, rather than assist it. Attendance at Sunday Mass and at a Catholic school alone won’t necessarily guarantee that your children continue to practise their faith.
