The traditional harvest festival at Loreto preparatory school in Altrincham, Cheshire, yielded not only a stage brim-full of produce but a bumper set of charitable donations. The independent preparatory school on Dunham Road donated a massive £7,500 to charities at home and overseas. The recipients were Henshaws Society for the Blind, the HCPT Pilgrimage Trust, Loreto Sisters of Albania, the Shelterbox Trust for Pakistan, Cafod for Haiti and the Newman Holiday Trust. The fresh food and tinned produce were donated to the Wood Street Mission and through a network of churches to local people in need. Rosemary Hedger, Loreto preparatory school headteacher, said: “Parents, pupils and teachers have invented and taken part in a whole range of fundraisers throughout the year.
