Blessed Fulton Sheen was beatified in St Louis, Missouri, on September 24, 2026, after a nearly seven-year delay – and the legacy of Fulton Sheen helped shape the groundwork for much of today’s Catholic media landscape.
Sheen was initially set to be beatified in December 2019. Just weeks before it was supposed to take place, the event was abruptly cancelled, and there was no rescheduled date. The world was then gripped by the coronavirus pandemic, which delayed or paused virtually everything, and those who supported Fulton Sheen’s cause were left wondering if this day would ever come. In March 2026, it was finally announced that the beatification had been rescheduled. And for one Sheen supporter, it could not be more timely.
