An Italian priest kidnapped in Nigeria has been freed, foreign minister Angelino Alfano has said. Fr Mauizio Pallù was kidnapped last weekend in the south of Nigeria, where he had been based for the past three years. His car was blocked by a group of armed men who robbed the people he was travelling with before taking the priest away with them. However, Alfano announced on Tuesday Fr Pallù had been released, saying he was “doing well”.
