The daughter of Ann Maguire will join ballet dancers in paying tribute to the Leeds schoolteacher. The inaugural Ann Maguire Gala, hosted by acclaimed dancers Darcey Bussell and Jonathan Cope, will take place at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London on Sunday March 22. The night of music and dance will also include a performance by the late Spanish teacher’s ballet dancer daughter, Emma, will raise money for the Ann Maguire Arts Education Fund. Emma said: “My mother was an inspirational teacher for generations of young people in Leeds. “As a family we felt that setting up a charity that continues her dedication to helping young people is what she would have wanted. “We are eternally grateful to all the artists who agreed to come together to make the inaugural Ann Maguire Gala possible, an event which not only launches a new charity but will also honour our mother.” Mrs Maguire, 61, was stabbed to death at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Halton Moor last April. The Ann Maguire Arts Education Fund is awarding grants to help young people in the arts.
