Leo has returned to the hillside town of Castel Gandolfo today, where he will offer Mass for the feast of the Assumption. It will be celebrated at the pontifical parish of St Thomas of Villanova, located in the central square of the town so beloved by locals and Romans alike.
As noted in previous Vatican Dispatches, Leo has shown himself immensely fond of Castel Gandolfo, and has made the papal visits and liturgical celebrations which were normal in previous pontificates very much a feature of his own. He will next offer a Mass there at the lakeside church of Santa Maria Santissima del Lago on August 29.
