Two suspects have been arrested following the emergence of a video depicting a man mimicking sex acts on a statue of the Virgin Mary before it was destroyed on September 30. The statue, located in Corsica, was found the following day severed from its plinth, with the mayor of the commune calling the incident “unspeakable”.
Franck Maury, second-in-command of the Porto-Vecchio gendarmerie company, confirmed that an investigation was under way to “determine exactly what happened and who the perpetrators are”.
