Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin had a private meeting with French president François Hollande and prime minister Manuel Valls yesterday, according to Le Figaro (French report). Cardinal Parolin deplored the “extreme fragmentation of knowledge" in a speech in Paris marking the 70th anniversary of Unesco. Catholic Relief Services has denounced the "highly personal, public critique" that prompted the resignation of senior official Rick Estridge. Fr Timothy Radcliffe has insisted that "nothing that I say contradicts the teaching of the Church" in response to critics of his appointment as a consultor to the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace.
