A senior priest in Nigeria has called on the government to help Christians in displacement camps desperate to fulfil their dreams and return to their ancestral lands.
Father Remigius Ihyula of Makurdi Diocese – where Christians have been forced from their homes in Benue State by terrorist attacks – told Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) that there is an urgent need to help IDPs (internally displaced persons) return to the farming lands they were driven from.
Father Ihyula said: “We must move beyond the ‘camp culture’ and restore the dignity of the people of Benue in order to restore the entire social and economic fabric.”
