US President Barack Obama has given a televised address in which he said he would not hesitate to launch air strikes against ISIS terrorists in Syria. Speaking last night from the White House, he said that the militants would find "find no safe haven". “We will conduct a systematic campaign of airstrikes against these terrorists. I will not hesitate to take action against (ISIS) in Syria, as well as Iraq,” he added. He also said that 475 US military personnel would now go to Iraq but confirmed these would not be combat troops. In laying out America's strategy for combating ISIS, Mr Obama said there would be an increase in backing for allied ground forces currently fighting the militants, more efforts to cut off the group's funding and a continuation of humanitarian aid to help persecuted Christians and other civilians affected by their advance.
