A DVD showing highlights of the papal visit is to be issued by the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales in time for Christmas, it emerged this week.

The DVD will include footage of all of Pope Benedict XVI's speeches in Britain and will be released a few weeks before Christmas.

Producing the DVD has been complicated by the fact that the bishops' conference did not secure copyright from musicians and broadcasters in advance of the visit.

Copyright was bought for the live feed transmitted to millions online but the bishops' conference has to seek separate deals to include footage on the DVD.
