Pope Francis is offering Catholics across the world the chance to obtain a plenary indulgence - from home, this year - as they celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Coronation of Our Lady of Guadalupe on 12 December. The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City is closed in view of the Covid-19 emergency. Pope Francis has mandated the Apostolic Penitentiary to decree that the faithful may receive a plenary indulgence for acts of Marian devotion. The Archbishop of Mexico City, Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes, announced the indulgence in a letter, which was accompanied by a formal proclamation from the Major Penitentiary, Cardinal Mauro Piacenza.
