Pope Francis has tweeted in support of seriously ill British child Alfie Evans. The Pope said on Wednesday evening that it was his “sincere hope that everything necessary may be done in order to continue compassionately accompanying little Alfie Evans, and that the deep suffering of his parents may be heard.” He added that he was praying for the child, his family and all involved. https://twitter.com/Pontifex/status/981606519702786048 The 22-month-old is in what has been described as a “semi-vegetative state” and has a rare degenerative neurological condition that has still not been definitely diagnosed. He is on life support at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. Alfie’s parents lost a European court battle last week to keep doctors from switching off his ventilator. His father now says they could switch it off as early as Friday.
