Pope Francis has called on the international community to continue on the path set out by the COP21 climate summit in Paris. A plan to try and curb global warming to less than 2C (3.6F) by the end of the century was agreed on Saturday at the end of the UN-organised conference which involved nearly 200 countries. President Obama said the deal offered "the best chance we have to save the one planet we have", while China and India also welcomed the agreement. Speaking in reference to COP21 after the recitation of the Angelus prayer in St Peter’s Square on Sunday, the Pope said: “With the hope that special attention for the most vulnerable populations is guaranteed, I exhort the whole international community to proceed on the path undertaken in the name of an ever more effective solidarity”.
