Over a decade ago, on November 10, 2015, the very clever Twitter personality “IowaHawkBlog” captured the long march through the institutions in a wonderful tweet. It went like this:
“1. Identify a respected institution. 2. Kill it. 3. Gut it. 4. Wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.”
This long march through the institutions has succeeded beyond the wildest dreams of those who first conceived it. Rudi Dutschke’s phrase, building on Gramsci’s prison notebooks, was never mere theory. It was a deliberate strategy: infiltrate the universities, the civil service, the police, the regulators, the media and the cultural gatekeepers; colonise them from within; and rewrite the moral operating system of the West while the rest of us were looking the other way. Keep the names, the buildings and the titles of the credible institutions that in so many cases took centuries to build and turn them into “skin suits”, as a cover costume for the anti-Western revolution. It worked.
