The European premiere recently occurred of a one-woman show about Hildegard of Bingen, the 12th-century abbess.

The show began in Edinburgh in August and the latest show was on September 3 at the Scottish Episcopal Church of St John the Evangelist at Lovers’ Walk in Dumfries.
Hildegard of Bingen and the Living Light was created by world-class vocalist Linn Maxwell, a mezzo soprano.

She has now been applying her talents now to a one-woman show about the exceptional German abbess, bringing to life Hildegard’s message and music — singing seven of her songs and accompanying herself on medieval instruments.
Miss Maxwell brings to life this German prophetess, healer and composer Hildegard and accompanies herself on authentic instruments including psaltery, organistrum and harp, performing seven of Hildegard’s original songs.

Hildegard’s timeless message of spiritual truth, holistic healing and caring for the earth is more urgent today than ever.
