Police are searching for a man who reportedly stole a tabernacle from Arrowe Park Hospital, Merseyside, on September 23 in what has been called a “despicable” theft. A man was seen taking the tabernacle away from its chapel in a wheelchair at around 1pm.
The Diocese of Shrewsbury confirmed that Hosts were contained within the tabernacle when it was stolen. It is believed that the man took the tabernacle on the wheelchair in the direction of football pitches on Arrowe Park Road.
Wirral Neighbourhood Inspector Sharon Robinson said: “It is despicable to think that anyone would steal anything from a hospital.
