Vatican confirms abuse committed by religious order’s founder

The Institute of the Incarnate Word has been ordered to undergo a process of renewal, after the Holy See confirmed that the late founder of the religious order abused numerous individuals. 

A note published by the Vatican on September 29 detailed the “moral certainty” regarding violations of the Sixth Commandment by Father Carlos Miguel Buela, who founded the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE) in 1984 in Argentina. The priest’s crimes were “committed with violence against multiple persons, in accordance with canon 1395 § 2,” the Vatican stated.
