The Archbishop of Kraków has said that the ancient Polish city has been "defaced by debauchery and drunkeness" due to the influx of foreign stag parties. In a letter to his congregations, Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz said: "Let’s look at the facts: the city is now full of nightclubs where the body, particularly of that of a woman, is used in a way that can be called profane. Every evening and every night thousands of advertisements are distributed urging people, especially the young, to take advantage of their offer.”  The archbishop added: “We can’t be passive, and have to make a great effort to defend the dignity of the human body, conjugal love and the formation of a young person’s conscience." He went on to urge the faithful to pray for "spiritual renewal".
