The Bishop of Portsmouth, Bishop Philip Egan, has written to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to congratulate them on the birth of their son. Bishop Egan's message to Prince William and Kate was written on behalf of the members of his diocese after the birth of the boy on Monday afternoon at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. "On behalf of the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth I extend heartiest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the wonderful news that God has blessed them with a son," he wrote "My prayers are with the Duke and Duchess and their baby at this happy time and I wish them every happiness in the years to come. May God Bless the new Prince, the Duke and Duchess and indeed all our Royal Family."
