Amoris Laetitia is a “paradigm shift” for the Church, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin has said. Cardinal Parolin told Vatican News that the “difficulties” associated with the Pope’s document were probably due to the “change of attitude that the Pope is asking of us”. He said: “It’s a paradigm change ... that’s what is asked of us – this new spirit, this new approach.”
Trudeau: pro-lifers are out of line
The Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has said that pro-lifers are “not in line with where we are as a society”. Asked at a town hall event in Hamilton, Ontario, about the ridicule that pro-lifers receive, Mr Trudeau said that any group that sought to restrict abortion rights was “not in line with where we are as a government and quite frankly where we are as a society”. He was speaking after his government barred pro-life groups from a federal summer jobs programme.
