The Catholic Herald is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Barrett-Shortt as its new Editor in Chief.
His appointment marks the next step in the Herald’s evolution, combining 137 years of Catholic journalism with the creative energy of a modern, multi-format media platform.
Over the last eighteen months, Edward has played a key role in shaping The Catholic Herald’s new direction. As a consultant, he has helped steer its digital strategy, expand its audience in the United States, and drive a period of exceptional growth in both online engagement and subscriptions.
Edward is a Catholic business leader with extensive experience in marketing, media, and publishing. He has founded and led several successful companies serving both secular and Catholic organisations around the world, bringing together editorial vision and commercial expertise.
“The Catholic Herald stands at a unique moment where tradition meets the possibilities of modern media,” he said. “It’s a privilege to lead a publication that helps readers see the world not just as it is, but as it can be understood through the light of faith.”
Looking ahead, The Catholic Herald continues to expand its reach through new multimedia projects including video and podcast programming and greater global coverage. In a time when a trusted and thoughtful Catholic perspective on the world is more important than ever, these initiatives will strengthen the Herald’s position in the media landscape.
