Matt Walsh and Andrew Tate have locked horns over the merits of polygamy and monogamy on X.
In response to a viral video of former CEO of Astronomer, Andy Byron, appearing to have an affair with colleague Kristin Cabot, Tate posted: “Monogamy is not natural for men.”
Criticising Tate’s position on his podcast, Walsh stated:
“Go down the list of animal species, and they almost all approach family formation the way that Andrew Tate prescribes. But the problem is that we are not monkeys or lizards or sharks. We are human beings. And my controversial contention is that we should act like it. Is monogamy natural? Even better, it's supernatural.”
He also stated that adultery should be against the law and described it as “harmful and deeply wicked”.
In a long X post, Tate responded:
“The ‘One Husband/One Wife’ lie is a SATANIC CONTROL-purposed mechanism, a LIE, spread as a disease across Western culture to mitigate societal disruption from inferior low-quality men who wouldn't be able to get a wife otherwise,”
and inaccurately claimed that:
“Statistically only 20–30% of men have ever reproduced, while 80–90% of women have reproduced.”
Tate went further, stating:
“Truthfully, most men do not deserve a wife. They are of low genetic quality and deserve nothing more than to be an indentured servant to someone else and never reproduce… They fear men like me having 9 baby machines and 40 children.”
Tate stands accused in multiple countries of exploiting women, trafficking victims for profit, and is facing charges including rape, human trafficking, and forming an organised criminal group.
Many of Tate’s sexual exploits have occurred under the guise of working with women in the “webcam business”. He has admitted to exploiting romantic relationships with vulnerable women in order to recruit them for his operations.
Despite Tate’s claims of having 40 children, no woman has come forward to confirm that she has a child with him, nor have any official documents, interviews, or credible reporting identified any of his children, their names, or their mothers. Tate is unmarried.
Conversely, Matt Walsh has been married to Alissa Ann Walsh (née Linnemann) since October 2011. Together, they have six children, including two sets of twins—Luke and Julia, Jeremiah and Olivia, and most recently Josiah and Jack, born in 2023. The Walsh family lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
He often references his children and marriage in his public commentary, describing fatherhood as the most meaningful aspect of his life and stating that having a big family is “chaos, sure. But it’s the best kind of chaos.”
