"Only Jesus’s power can help us come out" of the "tombs of sin", Pope Francis said at Mass in the Rome parish of San Gregorio Magno yesterday (video). Francis gave out free pocket gospels to pilgrims at Sunday's Angelus, saying it was "a sign for all" (full text, full video). Hundreds attended a Mass in Kigali yesterday at the start of a week of mourning marking the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster and the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, are urging Christians to join them in a week of prayer via Twitter. Cardinal Reinhard Marx has said he is “greatly concerned" that the debate over Communion for the remarried "will turn into a big ideological battle". Fr Dwight Longenecker wonders why "everybody is pouting and posturing about the houses of archbishops and bishops". And the seven-year-old boy who sat in the Pope's chair has inspired a new Italian film about adoption (short video, full film). Follow me on Twitter @lukecoppen for updates throughout the day.
